Growing together, Cultivating community.

Welcome to Provost Farm Heritage Center and Community Garden!
A Nonpartisan, Registered 501(c)(3) Organization.

who we are

Provost Farm empowers the next generation of community leaders and members through sustainable agriculture, education, and innovation—rooted in sugarcane and the rich traditions of South Louisiana!

“I’m a fourth-generation farm owner and a proud multi-generational farmer. My ancestors planted and harvested sugarcane under the brutal weight of enslavement, and they continued through the struggles of freedom. Their resilience and determination are the roots of everything I cultivate today.” — June Provost

OUR STORY

The Provost Farm Heritage Center and Community Garden, founded by June and Angie Provost, was created to honor the legacy of Black sugarcane farmers while promoting sustainability, education, and opportunity for all.

Inspired by the Provosts’ journey of resilience and their passion for agriculture and equity in a challenging industry, this nonprofit was established to educate, provide resources, and strengthen communities.

OUR community

Provost Farm Heritage Center and Community Garden rests in the vibrant marshlands of South Louisiana, where Afro-Creole, chitimacha, Cajun, and other communities have shaped a rich cultural heritage.

Serving as a bridge between this legacy and an inclusive future, the center is a hub for education, cultivation, and community engagement. Through sustainable farming workshops, local partnerships, and programs for under-resourced families, Provost Farm fosters connection to the land, to one another, and to a thriving shared future.
